Arvia Mitchell & Percy Fayle
Arvia Mitchell Fayle, RN, and Dr. Percy Riley Fayle were dedicated healthcare professionals whose work helped shape the early medical community in Baytown, Texas. Arvia earned her nursing degree from Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston and devoted her career to patient care and community service. Dr. Fayle served as a surgeon, including service in the U.S. Army during World War II, before establishing his medical practice in the Baytown area. Together, they played a vital role in advancing healthcare and were instrumental in the development of what became Gulf Coast Hospital. Beyond their professional contributions, Arvia and Percy Fayle were deeply committed to serving others and strengthening their community. They were also devoted to their family, took great pride in instilling values of service and compassion in future generations. This scholarship was established in their honor to support students pursuing careers, and to continue their commitment to service, compassion, excellence, and dedication.
