This scholarship honors the memory of Connie Martinez Chapa, a devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend who bravely battled a terminal illness from her late thirties until her passing at age 50. Despite facing invasive, painful health challenges, Connie defied doctors’ expectations, living 13 years beyond her prognosis of 10. Her unwavering faith in God, her family, and her medical team, along with the dedication of healthcare professionals, helped her continue the fight. In gratitude for the extra time she had, this scholarship supports future nurses and medical professionals passionate about patient care, helping them pursue their calling without financial barriers.
