Milton & Laura Kellner

This scholarship honors the dear friends of Frank and LaNelle McKay and the extraordinary dedication of Milton and Laura Kellner to education, athletics, and community. After meeting at Texas A&M University, where Milton earned All-Lone Star Conference honors in football, the couple began their careers in Port Arthur before joining the Robert E. Lee Gander family in 1969. For nearly five decades, Milton’s commitment extended beyond the football field, where he coached the Ganders to numerous victories in the 1970s and 80s. Laura made her impact as a beloved mathematics teacher at RSS Sterling High School, known for her unwavering commitment to her students’ success through countless hours of tutoring. The Kellners made Baytown their home, raising two children and serving their community faithfully. This scholarship celebrates the Kellner legacy of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and selfless service—continuing their lifelong commitment to nurturing future generations who embody their education, perseverance, and community engagement values.
