The Lawrence and Patricia Carrier Foundation Memorial Scholarship honoring Norman B. Lyons Textbook

Norman B. Lyons, Jr., born on July 19, 1944, in Buffalo, New York, was the son of Norman and Ruby Lyons. He grew up in Buffalo, graduating from Bennett High School and attending the University of Buffalo before transferring to Howard University. Norman worked in retail and insurance before becoming Vice President of Community Development for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club. After retiring, he served as the City of Arlington’s Community Relations Coordinator. He was involved in many boards, including Arlington Medical Center, North Texas Food Bank, Fort Worth Symphony, and the United Way of Tarrant County. Norman received the Rangers’ Jim Sunberg Community Achievement Award twice. He helped build 23 Habitat for Humanity homes, earning recognition from Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams for his dedication to service.
