Roberta Wright
Roberta Wright joined Lee College in 1984 as a part-time English instructor and later directed the innovative computer-assisted writing lab. In 1994, she was asked by President Dr. Jackson Sasser to lead the college’s Self-Study for accreditation, a role she immensely enjoyed. The following year, she became Executive Assistant to the President for Resource Development, later transitioning to Executive Director of Resource Development under Dr. Martha Ellis. Roberta played a key role in growing the Lee College Foundation’s endowment and securing significant grants, including the first Title V grant for the college. After retiring in 2009, she remained active with the Foundation, serving as President of the Board and consulting on grant writing, helping secure over $9 million in grants. Roberta was a dedicated leader known for her commitment to student success, exemplary grant-writing skills, and team-building approach. She inspired those around her, including one former colleague, who shared how Roberta’s mentorship and care extended beyond work to personal well-being. This scholarship honors Roberta’s lasting impact and legacy at Lee College.
