Nelda R. Merryman Textbook Scholarship

Nelda Ruth Merryman was born in Baytown and graduated from REL High School in 1978. She attended classes at Lee College. After marrying, she and her husband settled in Crosby where they raised 3 daughters. Education was important to her. She found it difficult to continue to pursue her education while also being a working mother and caring for her children. While she chose to put her education on hold and did not have the chance to go back and complete it, she instilled the importance of education in her daughters.
