Houston Business Roundtable

Houston Business Roundtable

The Houston Business Roundtable was established in 1973 as an association of construction users to be the owners’ voice in Houston for the construction industry. From the late 70’s through the mid 80’s, HBR’s focus turned to all aspects of cost effective project and construction management including engineering, design, procurement and construction. Then HBR evolved to broaden its focus to include major emphasis on safety & health, workforce development and best practices, not only in construction, but also in the operation and maintenance of the facilities in our industry. HBR’s purpose is to inform its membership regarding industry trends, new technology and best work practices and to facilitate industry improvements through the synergism of having our members and subscribers working together on issues and initiatives.

The Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) is a non-profit association whose membership consists primarily of refining, chemical and energy companies. All industrial owner companies that use engineering, construction and maintenance services are invited to join HBR. Additionally all Contractor companies, service companies and suppliers that work for member companies and support the greater Houston area industry are encouraged to participate as Subscribers of HBR. Many of the issues addressed, forums held and best practices shared at HBR focus on the interface and interaction between the owner companies and their contractors and suppliers.

Individual member companies and subscribers do not impair their freedom of action by joining the Roundtable. Each company continues to make its own decisions regarding its policies and business tactics and to make their own contractual arrangements. We do believe that these decisions will be more informed and effective through active membership in HBR.
